Engine Front Cover: Installation

- Clean and inspect the sealing surfaces. Install a new gasket.
- Apply silicone gasket and sealant to the oil pan and the engine block mating surfaces.
- Apply silicone gasket and sealant to the front cover in two places.
- Install the engine front cover.
- Connect the coolant bypass hose clamp.
- Install the lower radiator hose and clamp.
- Install the lower heater water hose and clamp.
- Position the wiring harness and install the bolt.
- Secure the wiring anchors.
- Connect the CKP sensor electrical connector.
- Install the generator mounting bracket.
- Install the wiring harness retainer.
- Connect the generator wiring.
- Install the drivebelt tensioner.
- Install the accessory bracket bolts.
- Install the routing clip and bolt.
- Install the cylinder block cradle-to-engine front cover bolts.
- On A/C equipped vehicles, install the A/C line bracket and bolt.
- Drain the engine oil.
- Install crankshaft front oil seal. For additional information, refer to CRANKSHAFT FRONT OIL SEAL .
- Fill the engine with clean engine oil.
- Connect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to BATTERY, MOUNTING AND CABLES .
- Fill the engine with coolant. For additional information, refer to ENGINE COOLING .
CAUTION:
Do not use metal scrapers, wire brushes, power abrasive discs or other abrasive means to clean sealing surfaces. These tools cause gouges which make leak paths.
NOTE:
Install the drain plug when finished draining.
