Disassembly And Assembly Of Subassemblies: Piston: Disassembly

    NOTE: The connecting rod bolts and nuts cannot be reused.
    NOTE: Mark the position of the parts, so they can be installed in their original position.
  1. Remove the connecting rod bearings from the connecting rod and caps.
  2. Remove the piston rings. For additional information, refer to ENGINE SYSTEM-GENERAL INFORMATION .
  3. Using the special tool, press the piston pin out of the connecting rod and piston assembly.

  4. Remove the connecting rod from the piston.

  5. Clean and inspect the connecting rod and piston. For additional information, refer to ENGINE SYSTEM-GENERAL INFORMATION .
