Lower Intake Manifold: Removal

Drain the engine cooling system. For additional information, refer to ENGINE COOLING .
Remove both the valve covers. For additional information, refer to VALVE COVER RH .
Disconnect the upper radiator hose, heater hose and coolant bypass hose.

Disconnect the engine coolant temperature (ECT) sensor and coolant temperature sender electrical connectors.

Disconnect the crankshaft position (CKP) sensor and detach the wiring from the stud bolt.

Disconnect the fuel injector electrical connectors and position the engine control wiring aside.
Release the fuel pressure and disconnect the fuel tube. For additional information, refer to FUEL SYSTEM-GENERAL INFORMATION .
Loosen all the rocker arm bolts.

NOTE: Identify the location of each pushrod. Each pushrod is to be installed in the original location to prevent premature wear.

Remove all the pushrods.
Remove the bolts from the lower intake manifold.

NOTE: Gently loosen the intake manifold to separate the silicone sealant from the cylinder block.

Remove the lower intake manifold.
Remove and discard the intake manifold gaskets and end seals.
