Connecting Rod Bearings: Installation

- The connecting rod bearings are precision fit. Refer to ENGINE SYSTEM-GENERAL INFORMATION for checking clearances or bearing selection.
- Install the connecting rod bearings.
- Install the connecting rod bearing cap.
- Repeat the procedure until all the connecting rod bearings are installed.
- Install the oil pan baffle.
- Install the oil pan. For additional information, refer to OIL PAN - 4X2 or OIL PAN - 4x4 .
CAUTION:
The connecting rod bearings must be lubricated with clean engine oil prior to installation or damage to the connecting rod bearing may occur.
CAUTION:
Bearing caps are directional and must be installed exactly as they were removed.
