Removal and Installation

- Remove the bolt securing the upper intermediate shaft to the lower intermediate shaft, at the midpoint connection. Collapse the lower shaft.
- Discard the bolt.
- Remove the bolt securing the upper intermediate shaft to the steering column assembly. Remove the intermediate shaft from inside the vehicle.
- Discard the bolt.
- To install, reverse the removal procedure.
CAUTION:
Do not allow the steering column shaft to rotate while the intermediate shaft is disconnected or damage to the clockspring can result. If there is evidence that the steering column shaft has rotated, the clockspring must be removed and recentered. For additional information, refer to AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEMS

NOTE:
Discard the upper intermediate shaft to steering column shaft bolt and the upper intermediate shaft to lower steering column shaft bolt upon removal. Do not reuse; install new bolts.
