Pinpoint Test F: DTC B1485: Brake Pedal Input Circuit Battery Short

Test Step 

  1. F1 CHECK CIRCUIT 810 (RD/LG) FOR VOLTAGE 
    • Key in OFF position.
    • Disconnect: ABS Module C135.
    • Key in ON position.
    • Measure the voltage between the ABS module C135 pin 8, circuit 810 (RD/LG), harness side and ground while applying and releasing the brake pedal.

    • Is the voltage between 9 volts and 19 volts with the brake pedal applied, and less than 1.5 volts with the brake pedal not applied? 

    Result / Action to Take 

    1. Yes  : GO to F5.
    2. No  : GO to F2.
  2. F2 CHECK ABS MODULE OPERATION 
    • Key in OFF position.
    • Connect the diagnostic tool.
    • Key in ON position.
    • Enter the following diagnostic mode on the diagnostic tool: ABS Module PID.
    • Monitor the ABS module brake pedal position (BPP) switch PID.
    • Does the PID read active with the brake pedal not applied, and read inactive with the brake pedal applied? 
    1. Yes  : GO to F3.
    2. No  : GO to F5.
  3. F3 CHECK THE BRAKE SHIFT INTERLOCK SOLENOID 
    • Key in OFF position.
    • Disconnect: Brake Shift Interlock Solenoid.
    • Key in ON position.
    • Enter the following diagnostic mode on the diagnostic tool: ABS Module PID.
    • Monitor the ABS module BPP switch PID.
    • Does the PID read active with the brake pedal not applied? 
    1. Yes  : GO to F4.
    2. No  : INSTALL a new brake shift interlock. REFER to TRANSAXLE/TRANSMISSION EXTERNAL CONTROLS . CLEAR the DTCs and CARRY OUT the self-test with the brake pedal not applied.
  4. F4 CHECK CIRCUIT 810 (RD/LG) FOR A SHORT TO POWER 
    • Key in OFF position.
    • Disconnect: Brake Pedal Position (BPP) Switch C278.
    • Key in ON position.
    • Enter the following diagnostic mode on the diagnostic tool: ABS Module PID.
    • Monitor the ABS module BPP switch PID.
    • Does the PID read active? 
    1. Yes  : REPAIR the circuit. CLEAR the DTCs and CARRY OUT the self-test with the brake pedal not applied.
    2. No  : INSTALL a new BPP switch. REFER to EXTERIOR LIGHTING . CLEAR the DTCs and CARRY OUT the self-test with the brake pedal not applied.
  5. F5 CHECK FOR CORRECT ABS MODULE OPERATION 
    • Disconnect all ABS connectors.
    • Check for:
      • corrosion
      • pushed-out pins
    • Connect all ABS connectors and make sure they seat correctly.
    • Operate the system and verify the concern is still present by CARRYING OUT the self-test with the brake pedal not applied.
    • Is the concern still present? 
    1. Yes  : INSTALL a new ABS module. REFER to ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM (ABS) MODULE . TEST the system for normal operation.
    2. No  : The system is operating correctly at this time. Concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. CLEAR the DTCs. CARRY OUT the self-test with the brake pedal not applied.
