Removal and Installation

WARNING: All safety belt assemblies including retractors, buckles, front seat belt buckle support assemblies (slide bar), shoulder belt height adjusters (if so equipped) child safety seat tether attachments and attaching hardware should be inspected after any collision. All belt assemblies should be installed new unless a qualified technician finds the assemblies show no damage and operate properly. Belt assemblies not in use during a collision should also be inspected and installed new if either damage or improper operation is noted.
NOTE: Rear seat and package tray trim removed for clarity. Right side shown, left side similar.
  1. To access the rear outboard safety belt retractor, remove the quarter trim panel. For additional information, refer to INTERIOR TRIM - LS .
  2. To access the rear outboard safety belt anchor, remove the rear seat cushion. For additional information, refer to SEATING .
  3. To access the center safety belt retractor, remove the retractor cover. For additional information, refer to INTERIOR TRIM - LS .
  4. Remove the components in the order indicated in the following illustration and table. To remove individual components, carry out only the following steps.
    COMPONENT STEPS SPECIFICATION

    Component Steps
    Rear safety belt and retractor 6-10
    Center seat safety belt 2-3
    Seat belt buckle 4-5
  5. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
