Pinpoint Test E: The Roof Opening Panel Is Inoperative

- E1 VERIFY POWER WINDOWS ARE OPERATIONAL
- Operate the power windows.
- Do the power windows operate?
- Yes : GO to E2.
- No : REFER to EXTERIOR TRIM to diagnose the inoperative windows.
- E2 VERIFY THE ROOF OPENING PANEL ADJUSTMENT
- Verify the roof opening panel is adjusted correctly.
- Is the roof opening panel adjusted correctly?
- Yes : GO to E3.
- No : ADJUST the roof opening panel. REFER to ROOF OPENING PANEL ALIGNMENT . REINITIALIZE the roof opening panel. REFER to ROOF OPENING PANEL MOTOR INITIALIZATION . TEST the system for normal operation.
- E3 CHECK THE ROOF OPENING PANEL LIFTER ASSEMBLIES FOR OBSTRUCTIONS AND DAMAGE
- Check the roof opening panel lifter assemblies for obstructions and damage.
- Are the roof opening panel lifter assemblies OK?
- Yes : GO to E4.
- No : REMOVE all obstructions and REPAIR any damage. REINITIALIZE the roof opening panel. REFER to ROOF OPENING PANEL MOTOR INITIALIZATION . TEST the system for normal operation.
- E4 CHECK CIRCUIT 30-AG12 (RD/GN) FOR VOLTAGE
- Disconnect: Roof Opening Panel Motor C920.
- Measure the voltage between the roof opening panel motor C920-1, circuit 30-AG12 (RD/GN), harness side and ground.
- Is the voltage greater than 10 volts?
- Yes : GO to E5.
- No : REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
- E5 CHECK CIRCUIT 31-AG12 (BK/GN) FOR AN OPEN
- Measure the resistance between the roof opening panel motor C920-10, circuit 31-AG12 (BK/GN), harness side and ground.
- Is the resistance less than 5 ohms?
- Yes : GO to E6.
- No : REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
- E6 CHECK THE ROOF OPENING PANEL CONTROL SWITCH
- Disconnect: Roof Opening Panel Control Switch C912.
- Carry out the roof opening panel control switch component test. Refer to COMPONENT TEST .
- Is the roof opening panel control switch OK?
- Yes : GO to E7.
- No : INSTALL a new roof opening panel control switch. REINITIALIZE the roof opening panel. REFER to ROOF OPENING PANEL MOTOR INITIALIZATION . TEST the system for normal operation.
- E7 CHECK CIRCUIT 9-AG7 (BN/RD) FOR A SHORT TO GROUND OR AN OPEN
- Measure the resistance between the roof opening panel motor C920-7, circuit 9-AG7 (BN/RD), harness side and ground; and between the roof opening panel motor C920-7, circuit 9-AG7 (BN/RD), harness side and the roof opening panel control switch C912-3, circuit 9-AG7 (BN/RD), harness side.
- Is the resistance greater than 10,000 ohms between the roof opening panel motor and ground and less than 5 ohms between the roof opening panel control switch and the roof opening panel motor?
- Yes : GO to E8.
- No : REPAIR the circuit. REINITIALIZE the roof opening panel. REFER to ROOF OPENING PANEL MOTOR INITIALIZATION . TEST the system for normal operation.
- E8 CHECK CIRCUIT 10-AJ43B (GY/VT) FOR AN OPEN
- Disconnect: DDM C501d.
- Measure the resistance between the roof opening panel motor C920-3, circuit 10-AJ43B (GY/VT), harness side and the DDM C501d-1, circuit 10-AJ43B (GY/VT), harness side.
- Is the resistance less than 5 ohms?
- Yes : INSTALL a new roof opening panel motor. REFER to ROOF OPENING PANEL . REINITIALIZE the roof opening panel. REFER to ROOF OPENING PANEL MOTOR INITIALIZATION . TEST the system for normal operation.
- No : REPAIR the circuit. REINITIALIZE the roof opening panel. REFER to ROOF OPENING PANEL MOTOR INITIALIZATION . TEST the system for normal operation.
