Pinpoint Test R: One Turn Signal Lamp Is Always On

  1. R1 CHECK THE CONTROL GROUND CIRCUIT FOR SHORT TO GROUND 
    • Key in OFF position.
    • Disconnect: FEM C201a or REM C420e.
    • Key in ON position.
    • Observe the turn signal lamp after disconnecting the FEM (front turn signal lamp always on) or REM (rear turn signal lamp always on).
    • Does the lamp continue to illuminate? 
    1. Yes  : REPAIR the control ground circuit in question. CLEAR the DTCs. TEST the system for normal operation.
    2. No  : If front turn signal lamp, GO to R2.

    If rear turn signal lamp, GO to   R3 . 

  2. R2 CHECK FOR FEM OPERATION 
    • Key in OFF position.
    • Disconnect all FEM connectors.
    • Check for:
      • corrosion
      • pushed-out pins
    • Connect all FEM connectors and make sure they seat correctly.
    • Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.
    • Is the concern still present? 
    1. Yes  : INSTALL a new FEM. Refer to MODULE COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK . TEST the system for normal operation.
    2. No  : The system is operating correctly at this time. Concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. REPEAT the self-test.
  3. R3 CHECK FOR REM OPERATION 
    • Key in OFF position.
    • Disconnect all REM connectors.
    • Check for:
      • corrosion
      • pushed-out pins
    • Connect all REM connectors and make sure they seat correctly.
    • Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.
    • Is the concern still present? 
    1. Yes  : INSTALL a new REM. Refer to MODULE COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK . TEST the system for normal operation.
    2. No  : The system is operating correctly at this time. Concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. REPEAT the self-test.
