Pinpoint Test Q: One Turn Signal Lamp Is Inoperative

- Q1 CHECK THE POWER SUPPLY TO THE TURN SIGNAL LAMP
- Key in OFF position.
- Disconnect: Inoperative Turn Signal Lamp.
- Key in ON position.
- Measure the voltage between the inoperative lamp and ground as follows:CIRCUIT SPECIFICATION
Inoperative Turn Signal Lamp Connector-Pin Circuit LH front parking/turn signal lamp C1023-1 29S-LF16 (OG/GN) RH front parking/turn signal lamp C1043-1 29S-LF16 (OG/GN) LH rear turn signal lamp C413-1 29S-LG12 (OG/YE) RH rear signal lamp C416-1 29S-LG12 (OG/YE) - Is the voltage greater than 10 volts?
- Yes : GO to Q2.
- No : REPAIR the circuit in question. CLEAR the DTCs. TEST the system for normal operation.
- Q2 CHECK THE CONTROL GROUND CIRCUIT FOR SHORT TO POWER
- Key in OFF position.
- Disconnect: FEM C201a or REM C420e.
- Measure the voltage between the FEM or REM and ground as follows:CIRCUIT SPECIFICATION
Inoperative Turn Signal Lamp FEM or REM Connector Circuit LH front parking/turn signal lamp FEM C201a-5 31S-LG11(BK/WH) RH front parking/turn signal lamp FEM C201a-4 31S-LG18(BK/YE) LH rear turn signal lamp REM C420e-3 31S-LG12(BK/YE) RH rear turn signal lamp REM C420e-4 31S-LG19(BK/BU) - Is any voltage present?
- Yes : REPAIR the circuit in question. CLEAR the DTCs. TEST the system for normal operation.
- No : GO to Q3.
- Q3 CHECK THE CONTROL GROUND CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN
- Connect: Inoperative Turn Signal Lamp.
- Key in ON position.
- Connect a fused (5A) jumper wire between the FEM or REM and ground as follows:CIRCUIT SPECIFICATION
Inoperative Turn Signal Lamp FEM or REM Connector Circuit LH front parking/turn signal lamp FEM C201a-5 31S-LG11 (BK/WH) RH front parking/turn signal lamp FEM C201a-4 31S-LG18 (BK/YE) LH rear turn signal lamp REM C420e-3 31S-LG12 (BK/YE) RH rear turn signal lamp REM C420e-4 31S-LG19 (BK/BU) - Does the inoperative lamp now illuminate?
- Yes
: For the front turn signal lamp, GO to Q4.
For the rear turn signal lamp, GO to Q5.
- No : REPAIR the circuit in question. CLEAR the DTCs. TEST the system for normal operation.
- Q4 CHECK FOR FEM OPERATION
- Key in OFF position.
- Disconnect all FEM connectors.
- Check for:
- corrosion
- pushed-out pins
- Connect all FEM connectors and make sure they seat correctly.
- Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.
- Is the concern still present?
- Yes : INSTALL a new FEM. Refer to MODULE COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK TEST the system for normal operation.
- No : The system is operating correctly at this time. Concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. REPEAT the self-test.
- Q5 CHECK FOR REM OPERATION
- Key in OFF position.
- Disconnect all REM connectors.
- Check for:
- corrosion
- pushed-out pins
- Connect all REM connectors and make sure they seat correctly.
- Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.
- Is the concern still present?
- Yes : INSTALL a new REM. Refer to MODULE COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK . TEST the system for normal operation.
- No : The system is operating correctly at this time. Concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. REPEAT the self-test.
