Pinpoint Test I: The Power Supply Relay Is Inoperative - Switched System Power (SSP) 3
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2004 Lincoln LS. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE:
The ignition switch must be cycled from OFF to ON to enable the SSP feature.
NOTE:
Refer to EXTERIOR LIGHTING and the SSP Relay Index for complete details of SSP1 powered features.
- I1 CHECK THE BATTERY JUNCTION BOX (BJB)
- Key in OFF position.
- Disconnect: SSP3 Relay C444.
- Measure the voltage between the SSP3 relay C444-86, circuit 30-DG55 (RD/BK), harness side and ground; and between the SSP3 relay C444-30, circuit 30-DG56 (RD/WH), harness side and ground.
- Are the voltages greater than 10 volts?
Result/Action
- Yes : GO to I2.
- No : REPAIR or INSTALL a new BJB. TEST the system for normal operation.
- I2 CHECK CIRCUIT 31S -DG55 (BK/RD) FOR AN OPEN
- Key in ON position.
- Measure the resistance between the SSP3 relay C444-85, circuit 31S -DG55 (BK/RD), harness side and ground.
- Is the resistance less than 5 ohms?
- Yes : GO to I3.
- No : REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
- I3 CHECK THE SSP3 RELAY
- Carry out the SSP3 relay component test.
Refer to COMPONENT TESTING .
- Is the SSP3 relay OK?
- Yes : REPAIR circuit 30S-DB15 (RD/OG).
- No : INSTALL a new SSP3 relay. TEST The system for normal operation.
- Carry out the SSP3 relay component test.
