Pinpoint Test H: The Power Supply Relay Is Inoperative - Switched System Power (SSP) 2

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2004 Lincoln LS. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE: The ignition switch must be cycled from OFF to ON to enable the SSP feature.
NOTE: Refer to EXTERIOR LIGHTING  and the SSP Relay Index for complete details of SSP 1 powered features.
  1. H1 CHECK THE BATTERY JUNCTION BOX (BJB)
    • Key of OFF position.
    • Disconnect SSP2 Relay C442.
    • Measure the voltage between the SSP2 relay C442-86, circuit 30-DG53 (RD/OG), harness side and ground; and between the SSP2 relay C442-30, circuit 30-DG54 (RD/GN), harness side and ground.

    • Are the voltages greater than 10 volts?
    1. Yes  : GO to H2.
    2. No  : REPAIR or INSTALL a new BJB. TEST the system for normal operation.
  2. H2 CHECK CIRCUIT 31S-DG53 (BK/OG) FOR AN OPEN
    • Key in ON position.
    • Measure the resistance between the SSP2 relay C442-85, circuit 31S -DG53 (BK/OG), harness side and ground.

    • Is the resistance less than 5 ohms?
    1. Yes  : GO to H3.
    2. No  : REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
  3. H3 CHECK THE SSP2 RELAY
    • Carry out the SSP2 relay component test.

      Refer to COMPONENT TESTING .

    • Is the SSP2 relay OK?
    1. Yes  : REPAIR circuit 30-DD2 (RD/BU).
    2. No  : INSTALL a new SSP2 relay. TEST the system for normal operation.
