Removal and Installation

With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to LIFTING .
Remove the driveshaft. For additional information, refer to DRIVELINE SYSTEM .
Remove the parts in the order indicated in the following illustration and table.

NOTE: Use a suitable transmission jack to support the transmission.

To install, reverse the removal procedure.
Check the transmission fluid level. For additional information, refer to TRANSMISSION FLUID LEVEL CHECK in this section.

Item 6: Output Shaft Flange Removal Note

Using the special tool, remove the output shaft flange.

Item 8: Extension Housing Removal Note

CAUTION: The parking pawl, parking pawl return spring and parking pawl shaft could fall out during removal of the extension housing.

Remove the extension housing.

Item 7: Extension Housing Screws Installation Note

CAUTION: Make sure the parking lever actuating rod is correctly seated into the case parking rod guide cup.

Install the extension housing.

Item 6: Output Shaft Flange Installation Note

Using the special tool, install the output shaft flange.
