Removal and Installation

  1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to LIFTING .
  2. Place the range selector lever in the D5 position.
  3. Remove the center console. For additional information, refer to INTERIOR TRIM .
  4. Remove the parts in the order indicated in the following illustration and table. See Fig 1.

  5. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

Item 1: Transmission Selector Lever Bezel Removal Note 

  1. Remove the PRNDL indicator bulb.

  2. Rotate the shifter bezel out of the way.

Item 2: Transmission Brake Shift Interlock Actuator Removal Note 

  1. Disconnect the cable from the lever.
    1. Remove the shift interlock cable from the bracket.
    2. Disconnect the cable from the lever.

Item 3: Instrument Panel Steering Column Cover Removal Note 

  1. Remove the lower steering column cover push pins.

  2. Remove the instrument panel steering column cover.

  3. Disconnect the electrical connector.

  4. Position the hood release cable and bracket aside.
    1. Remove the screws.
    2. Position the hood release cable and bracket aside.

Item 4: Lower Reinforcement Panel Removal Note 

  1. Remove the lower reinforcement panel.

Item 7: Ignition Switch Removal Note 

  1. Remove the inner trim support panel.

  2. Remove the ignition switch:
    • Remove the screws.
    • Remove the ignition switch.

Item 8: Brake Shift Interlock Actuator Removal Note 

  1. Remove the screws for the brake shift interlock actuator cable.

Item 9: Brake Shift Interlock Actuator Electrical Connector Removal Note 

  1. Disconnect the electrical connector from the brake shift interlock actuator cable.
