Pinpoint Test J: Brake Shift Interlock Inoperative

  1. J1 CHECK FOR FEM DTCs 
  2. J2 CHECK FOR VOLTAGE ON CIRCUIT 7S-TA33 (YE/VT) 
    • Key in OFF position.
    • Disconnect: Brake Shift Interlock C322.
    • Key in ON position.
    • Press and hold the brake pedal.
    • Measure the voltage between brake shift interlock C322 pin 2, circuit 7S-TA33 (YE/VT), harness side and ground.

    • Is the voltage greater than 10 volts? 
      1. Yes  : GO to  J5.
      2. No  : GO to J3.
  3. J3 CHECK CIRCUIT 75-TA33 (YE/VT) FOR SHORT TO GROUND 
    • Disconnect: FEM C201f.
    • Measure the resistance between brake shift interlock C322 pin 2, circuit 7S-TA33 (YE/VT), harness side and ground.

    • Is the resistance greater than 10,000 ohms? 
      1. Yes  : GO to J4.
      2. No  : REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
  4. J4 CHECK CIRCUIT 7S-TA33 (YE/VT) FOR OPEN 
    • Measure the resistance between brake shift interlock C322 pin 2, circuit 7S-TA33 (YE/VT), harness side and FEM C201f pin 15, circuit 7S-TA33 (YE/VT), harness side.

    • Is the resistance less than 5 ohms? 
    1. Yes  : INSTALL a new FEM. REFER to MODULE COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK .
    2. No  : REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
  5. J5 CHECK CIRCUIT 31-TA33 (BK) FOR AN OPEN 
    • Measure the resistance between brake shift interlock C322 pin 1, circuit 31-TA33 (BK), harness side and ground.

    • Is the resistance less than 5 ohms? 
      1. Yes  : INSTALL a new brake shift interlock actuator. REFER to BRAKE SHIFT INTERLOCK ACTUATOR . TEST the system for normal operation.
      2. No  : REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
