Removal and Installation

- Drain the cooling system. For additional information, refer to COOLING SYSTEM DRAINING, FILLING AND BLEEDING in this section.
- Remove the thermostat housing. For additional information, refer to THERMOSTAT HOUSING - 3.9L in this section.
- Remove the accessory drive belt. For additional information, refer to ENGINE - 3.9L .
- Remove the components in the order indicated in the following illustration and table.
- To install, reverse the removal procedure.
- Fill and bleed the cooling system. For additional information, refer to COOLING SYSTEM DRAINING, FILLING AND BLEEDING in this section.
Item 4: Coolant Pump Installation Note
- Install a new gasket and inspect and lubricate the O-ring seal with clean engine coolant before installing the pump.
Item 3: Coolant Pump Bolts Installation Note
- Tighten the bolts to 8 N.m (71 lb-in), then rotate an additional 90 degrees.
Item 1: Coolant Pump Pulley Bolts Installation Note
- Tighten the bolts to 10 N.m (89 lb-in), then rotate an additional 45 degrees.
