Removal and Installation

- With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist.
- Drain the cooling system. For additional information, refer to ENGINE COOLING .
- Drain the engine oil.
- Remove the lower splash shield.
- Remove the components in the order indicated in the following illustration and table.
- To install, reverse the removal procedure.
CAUTION:
The cooling system filling and bleeding procedure must be followed exactly or damage to the engine can occur.
Item 9: Oil Cooler Installation Note
- Position the oil cooler and a new gasket and install the bolt.
- Rotate the cooler clockwise until the locating pin hits the stop.
NOTE:
Inspect the gasket and surfaces for contamination prior to installation.
Items 7 and 8: Oil Filter and Gasket Installation Note
- Install the oil filter until the seal makes contact. Using an oil filter strap wrench, tighten an additional 270 degrees.
