Removal and Installation

- Disconnect the battery ground cable.
- Remove the RH ignition coils. For additional information, refer to INTAKE AIR, FUEL CHARGING, STARTING & ENGINE ELECTRONICS - 3.0L (4V) .
- Remove the components in the order indicated in the following illustration and table. See Fig 1.
- Remove the components in the order indicated in the following illustration and table. See Fig 2.
- To install, reverse the removal procedure.
Items 8, 9, and 10: Valve Cover, Valve Cover Stud Bolts and Valve Cover Bolts Installation Note
- Clean the cylinder head-to-valve cover sealing surface.
- Apply an 8 mm (0.32 in) bead of silicone gasket and sealant to the cylinder head half-round surface and to the front cover-to-cylinder head joint face.
- Install the RH valve cover, and tighten the bolts and stud bolts in the sequence shown. See Fig 4.
NOTE:
The valve cover must be installed within four minutes of sealant application.

Locations 1 and 2 are bolts. Locations 3-12 are stud bolts.
