Removal and Installation

  1. With the vehicle in neutral, position it on a hoist.
  2. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
  3. Drain the engine cooling system. For additional information, refer to ENGINE COOLING .
  4. Remove the air cleaner outlet tube. For additional information, refer to INTAKE AIR, FUEL CHARGING, STARTING & ENGINE ELECTRONICS - 3.0L (4V) .
  5. Remove the cowl vent screen. For additional information, refer to EXTERIOR TRIM .
  6. Illustration 1 of 4. Remove the components in the order indicated in the following illustration and table.

Item 7: Vacuum Hose Removal Note 

  1. Remove the vacuum hoses from the mounting bracket.

Item 11: PCV Tube Removal Note 

  1. Position the PCV tube and coolant hose aside.

Items 24 and 25: Upper Intake Manifold and Mounting Bolts Installation Note 

  1. Inspect the gaskets. Install new gaskets if necessary.
  2. Position the upper intake manifold and install the bolts hand-tight.

Item 20: Fuel Pressure Sensor Shield Mounting Bolts Installation Note 

  1. Install the fuel pressure sensor shield mounting bolts hand-tight.
    • Tighten the upper intake manifold bolts in the sequence shown.

Item 11: PCV Tube Installation Note 

  1. Position the PCV tube and coolant hose to the intake manifold.

Item 7: Vacuum Hose Installation Note 

  1. Clip the vacuum hoses into the mounting bracket.
