Removal and Installation

- With the vehicle in neutral, position it on a hoist.
- Disconnect the battery ground cable.
- Drain the engine cooling system. For additional information, refer to ENGINE COOLING .
- Remove the air cleaner outlet tube. For additional information, refer to INTAKE AIR, FUEL CHARGING, STARTING & ENGINE ELECTRONICS - 3.0L (4V) .
- Remove the cowl vent screen. For additional information, refer to EXTERIOR TRIM .
- Illustration 1 of 4. Remove the components in the order indicated in the following illustration and table.

Item 7: Vacuum Hose Removal Note
- Remove the vacuum hoses from the mounting bracket.
Item 11: PCV Tube Removal Note
- Position the PCV tube and coolant hose aside.
Items 24 and 25: Upper Intake Manifold and Mounting Bolts Installation Note
- Inspect the gaskets. Install new gaskets if necessary.
- Position the upper intake manifold and install the bolts hand-tight.
Item 20: Fuel Pressure Sensor Shield Mounting Bolts Installation Note
- Install the fuel pressure sensor shield mounting bolts hand-tight.
- Tighten the upper intake manifold bolts in the sequence shown.
Item 11: PCV Tube Installation Note
- Position the PCV tube and coolant hose to the intake manifold.
Item 7: Vacuum Hose Installation Note
- Clip the vacuum hoses into the mounting bracket.
