Test Procedure

  1. G1 - CHECK THE STEERING COLUMN BEARING

    • Inspect the steering column mounting fasteners and bearing for looseness.
    • Are the fasteners and bearing OK? 
      1. Yes  : GO to G2.
      2. No  : TIGHTEN the steering column mounting fasteners or INSTALL a new steering column. REFER to STEERING COLUMN  in this section.
  2. G2 - CHECK THE STEERING LINKAGE FOR LOOSENESS

    • Carry out the Steering Linkage component test. Refer to COMPONENT TESTS  in this section.
    • Is the steering linkage OK? 
      1. Yes  : REFER to FRONT article to diagnose the suspension components.
      2. No  : INSTALL new steering linkage as necessary. REFER to STEERING GEAR  in this section.
