Removal & Installation (Parking Brake Release Actuator Rod)

- Pull out on the bottom of the parking brake control boot to disengage it from the plastic retainer. If necessary, pull the control handle upward.
- Using a small screwdriver, carefully lift the retainer tab and slide the boot upward.
- Remove the rod. See Fig 1
.
- Lift upward on the spring.
- Bend the rod away from the handle.
- When the tab on the rod clears the tube, pull the rod from the control.
- To install, reverse removal procedure. Press downward on the end of the rod when it contacts the control. See Fig 2 .
CAUTION:
The control boot is held in position by a small plastic retaining tab that engages a notch in the control handle. See Figure
. Failure to use care when removing the boot can result in damage to the tab and unnecessary replacement of the boot.
