Removal & Installation

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 Ford Windstar and 2002 Ford Windstar. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE: The only serviceable items on the adjustable pedal and bracket assembly are the motor and transmission cable assembly. It is not necessary to remove the entire assembly if the motor or cables require service.
  1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
  2. Remove the instrument close-out panel bolts and remove the panel. See Fig 1 .
  3. Remove the stoplight switch retaining pin. See Fig 2 .
  4. Disconnect the steering intermediate shaft upper bolt. Position the shaft aside. See Fig 3 .
  5. Slide the stoplight switch and booster push rod and the bushing from the brake pedal pin. See Fig 4 .
  6. On vehicles with adjustable pedals, disconnect the accelerator cable from the accelerator pedal arm. See Fig 5 .
  7. Disconnect the brake pedal motor harness connector. See Fig 6 .
  8. On all vehicles, remove the brake pedal bracket upper sky bolts. See Fig 7 .
  9. Remove the brake booster nuts. See Fig 8 .
  10. Remove the brake pedal and bracket or the adjustable pedal assembly.
  11. To install, reverse removal procedure.
