Parking Brake

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 Ford Windstar and 2002 Ford Windstar. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

The parking brake system is an independent cable-actuated system controlled by a hand-operated parking brake control. This parking brake control is mounted on the floor between the seats. The parking brake control operates the rear brake shoe and lining through cables and an equalizer on the front cable. Parking brake cable tension is adjusted automatically. To apply parking brake, pull on the hand-operated parking brake control at least 5-7 clicks. Parking brake lever is attached to the rear shoe and is activated by independent rear brake cables. See Fig 1 .
