A/C High Pressure Cut-Off Switch

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Ford Pickup. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

The A/C high pressure cut-off switch is mounted on a Schrader valve-type fitting on high pressure side of A/C manifold and is used to interrupt compressor clutch operation in case of high system discharge pressures. When system discharge pressure increases to approximately 435-475 psi (30.6-33.4 kg/cm2 ), compressor clutch will be disengaged. When discharge pressure decreases to 230-290 psi (16.1-20.4 kg/cm2 ), compressor clutch will be engaged. When replacing A/C high pressure cut-off switch it is not necessary to discharge A/C system.
