Abs Warning Light On & No DTCS Retrieved With Brake Warning Light On, Parking Brake Released & Brake Lining Wear Checked (1998 Models)

  1. Start engine and observe ABS warning light. If ABS warning light does not illuminate after 5-10 seconds, go to next step. If ABS warning light illuminates after 5-10 seconds, drive vehicle to determine if warning light turns on. If ABS warning light turns on and off during test drive, repair intermittent short in wiring harness. Go to next step.
  2. Turn ignition off. Disconnect 24-pin ABS control module connector. Turn ignition on and observe ABS warning light. If ABS warning light illuminates, repair Black/Red wire between instrument cluster and ABS control module. Reconnect all components. Recheck system operation. If ABS warning light does not illuminate, reconnect ABS control module and go to next step.
  3. Turn ignition on and observe ABS warning light. If ABS warning light illuminates, replace Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU). Bleed brake system. See BLEEDING BRAKE SYSTEM . Reconnect all components. Recheck system operation. If ABS warning light does not illuminate, system is okay. Recheck system operation.
