Block Heater: Removal

  1. Drain the cooling system. For additional information, refer to COOLING SYSTEM DRAINING, FILLING & BLEEDING - 2.3L  or COOLING SYSTEM DRAINING, FILLING & BLEEDING - 3.0L & 4.0L .
  2. Raise and support the vehicle.
  3. NOTE: 2.3L block heater is the screw in type.

  4. Disconnect the connector.
  5. Remove the block heater (6A051).
      NOTE: Do not loosen the screw more than necessary for removal.
    1. Loosen the screw.
    2. Twist and slide the block heater to release the retainer clip and discard the retainer clip.
    3. Remove the block heater.
