A/C Electronic Blend Door Actuator

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Lincoln Blackwood. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

The A/C electric blend door actuator is located on plenum assembly. Its function is to move air temperature blend door on command from control assembly. A/C electric blend door actuator contains a reversible electric motor and a potentiometer. Potentiometer wiper is connected to actuator output shaft and moves with output shaft to indicate position of air temperature blend door.

A 5 volt signal is applied to ends of potentiometer. Voltage available at wiper indicates position of potentiometer. Expressed value of actuator wiper voltage is sent to EATC module and is compared to desired wiper voltage determined by EATC module. Control module then drives actuator motor in whichever direction is necessary to make actuator wiper voltage agree with desired wiper voltage.
