Piston - Pin to Bore Diameter

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Ford Econoline, 2002 Ford E550 Super Duty, 2002 Ford E450 Super Duty, and 2002 Ford Cutaway. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
WARNING: Cover the end of the pin bore with a hand or shop rag when removing the retainer ring, since it has a tendency to spring out. Wear eye protection.
NOTE: Piston and piston pins are a matched set and should not be interchanged.
  1. Measure the piston pin bore diameter in two directions on each side. Verify the diameter is within specification.
    • If out of specification, install new components as necessary. Refer to the appropriate ENGINE article for the procedure.
