Disabling System (Blazer, Jimmy Canadian, Sonoma & S10 Pickup)

WARNING: Regular cab and extra cab pickup models are equipped with ON/OFF switches for passenger side air bags. Turning switch OFF will NOT disable the driver air bag.
  1. Before proceeding, follow air bag service precautions. See SERVICE PRECAUTIONS . Turn front wheels to straight-ahead position. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Remove key from ignition switch.
  2. Remove SIR fuse from instrument panel fuse block. Fuse block is located behind access cover on far left end of instrument panel. Wait one minute.
  3. Remove left sound insulator from lower left edge of instrument panel. Remove the left side knee bolster (if equipped). Remove the Connector Position Assurance (CPA) clip, and disconnect driver air bag 2-pin Yellow SIR connector at base of steering column. See Figure.
  4. Open glove box, lift stop, and allow door to fully open. Remove the Connector Position Assurance (CPA) clip, and disconnect passenger air bag 2-pin Yellow SIR connector. Connector is located behind glove box, in left side of opening.
