Disabling System (Aztek & Rendezvous)

  1. Before proceeding, follow air bag service precautions. See SERVICE PRECAUTIONS . Turn front wheels to straight-ahead position. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Remove key from ignition switch.
  2. Remove SIR (10-amp) fuse from fuse block. Fuse block is behind access cover on right side of center console. Wait one minute.
  3. Remove sound insulator panel from under left side of dash. Remove the Connector Position Assurance (CPA) clip, and disconnect driver air bag 2-pin Yellow SIR connector at base of steering column. See Figure.
  4. Remove sound insulator panel from under right side of dash. Remove the Connector Position Assurance (CPA) clip, and disconnect passenger air bag 2-pin Yellow SIR connector. Connector is located behind sound insulator panel. See Figure.
  5. Remove CPA clip from driver side air bag 2-pin Yellow SIR connector. Disconnect Yellow SIR connector from vehicle harness. The connector is located under driver's seat. See Figure. Repeat procedure for passenger side air bag connector under passenger's seat.
