Disabling System (Explorer & Mountaineer)
WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 102 other vehicles, including the 2002 Saturn Vue, 2002 Saturn SL2, 2002 Saturn SL1, 2002 Saturn SL, and 2002 Saturn SC2. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- Record preset radio frequencies for reprogramming (if equipped). Disconnect negative battery cable. Wait at least one minute for backup power supply to deplete stored energy.
- Remove driver's air bag module. See DRIVER AIR BAG MODULE . Connect appropriate air bag simulator to clockspring connector at top of steering column (in place of air bag). See AIR BAG SIMULATOR .
- Remove glove box. Disconnect passenger air bag connector. Connect appropriate air bag simulator to passenger's air bag vehicle harness connector (in place of air bag). See AIR BAG SIMULATOR . For models equipped with side air bags, go to next step. If vehicle is not equipped with side air bags, connect negative battery cable.
- Separate passenger side "C" pillar trim panel. Disconnect passenger side air bag connector, located on "C" pillar behind second row safety belt shoulder height adjuster. Connect appropriate side air bag simulator (in place of air bag). See AIR BAG SIMULATOR . Repeat procedure for driver side air bag. Connect negative battery cable.
