Engagement Concern: Harsh Shifts (Any Gear)

ENGAGEMENT CONCERN: HARSH SHIFTS (ANY GEAR) SPECIFICATION

Possible Component Reference/Action
203 - ELECTRICAL ROUTINE 
Powertrain Control System 
  • Electrical inputs/outputs, vehicle wiring harnesses, transaxle control module (TCM), EPC solenoid, TPS, TFT, TR switch, OSS sensor, engine RPM.
303 - HYDRAULIC/MECHANICAL ROUTINE 
Improper pressures 
  • High line pressure
  • Perform Line Pressure and Stall Speed Tests; refer to DIAGNOSTICS  . Check pressure at line pressure taps; refer to the LINE PRESSURE CHART  table for specifications. If high, check the following possible component: main control valve body.
Main Control Valve Body 
  • Bolts out of torque specification
  • Tighten bolts to specification.
  • Gasket and separator plate-damaged, off location
  • Inspect for damage. Install new components as necessary.
  • Main control valve body valves-stuck, damaged
  • Inspect for damage. Install new components as necessary.
2-4 Band 
  • Improper adjustment
  • Inspect and adjust as necessary.
2-4 Band Accumulator 
  • Piston, seals
  • Inspect for damage. Install new components as necessary.
Pump Assembly 
  • Bolts out of torque specification
  • Tighten bolts to specification.
  • Gasket damaged, off location
  • Inspect for damage. Install new components as necessary.
  • Components damaged
  • Inspect for damage. Install new components as necessary.
  • Reverse apply tube leaking or incorrectly installed
  • Inspect for damage. Install new components as necessary.
Clutch Assemblies 
  • Piston damaged, stuck
  • Inspect for damage. Install new components as necessary.
  • Friction Elements damaged, worn
  • Inspect for damage. Install new components as necessary.
  • Return spring damaged, worn, stuck
  • Inspect for damage. Install new components as necessary.
  • Dish Plate-damaged, incorrectly installed.
  • Inspect for damage. Install new components as necessary.
Torque Converter 
  • Clutch
  • Inspect for damage. Install new components as necessary.
