Brake Booster - Vacuum: Removal

  1. Disconnect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to BATTERY, MOUNTING AND CABLES .
  2. Depress the brake pedal to release vacuum from the power brake booster.
  3. Remove the coolant reservoir bolts and position reservoir aside.

  4. NOTE: Discard the master cylinder retaining nuts. They are torque prevailing and cannot be reused.
  5. Remove the brake master cylinder. For additional information, refer to MASTER CYLINDER .
  6. Disconnect the power brake booster check valve.

  7. Remove the stoplight switch self-locking pin.

  8. Slide the stoplight switch and booster push rod and bushing off the brake pedal pin.

  9. Remove the brake booster nuts.

  10. Remove the power brake booster.
