Exhaust Manifold - Right: Removal

  1. Disconnect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to BATTERY, MOUNTING AND CABLES .
  2. Remove the engine cover. For additional information, refer to INTERIOR TRIM AND ORNAMENTATION .
  3. Remove the air cleaner.
  4. Remove the oil level indicator tube and retaining screw.
  5. Raise and support the vehicle.
  6. Remove the two nuts and bolts retaining the right turbocharger exhaust inlet pipe to the exhaust manifold.

  7. Lower the vehicle.
  8. Disconnect the exhaust back-pressure line from the exhaust manifold.

  9. Remove the eight exhaust manifold bolts and the exhaust manifold.

  10. Clean the exhaust manifold mating surfaces.
  11. Using a straightedge, check the exhaust manifold surfaces for warpage.
