Cylinder Head LH: Installation

ALL VEHICLES
- Install the cylinder head gasket.
- Using the special tools, lift the cylinder head and position it onto the cylinder block. Remove the special tools.
- Lightly lubricate the cylinder head retaining bolt threads and flanges with clean engine oil. Install the cylinder head retaining bolts.
- Tighten the bolts in the sequences shown in three stages.
- Stage 1: Using the first sequence, tighten the bolts to 88 Nm (65 lb-ft).
- Stage 2: Using the first sequence, tighten the bolts to 115 Nm (85 lb-ft).
- Stage 3: Using the second sequence, tighten the bolts to 129 Nm (95 lb-ft).
- Install the nuts and bolts into the exhaust manifold and the exhaust adapter pipe.
- Install the four inboard fuel injector hold-down bolts.
- Install the fuel injectors. For additional information, refer to FUEL SYSTEMS .
- Connect the fuel supply tube.
- Connect the high pressure oil hose. Pull on the high pressure oil hose to make sure the fitting is correctly connected.
- Install the rocker arms and push rods. For additional information, refer to ROCKER ARM COVER, ROCKER ARM AND PUSH ROD .
- Install the valve cover. For additional information, refer to VALVE COVER LH .
- Position the A/C compressor or idler pulley mounting bracket, and install the retaining bolts.
VEHICLES WITH AIR CONDITIONING
- Connect the air conditioning manifold to the A/C compressor.
- Connect the A/C electrical connector.
ALL VEHICLES
- Connect the oil pressure sensor electrical connector.
- Connect the power steering hoses.
E-250 - E-450
- Connect the vacuum hose.
ALL VEHICLES
- Install the accessory drive belt. For additional information, refer to ACCESSORY DRIVE .
- Install the turbocharger compressor manifold.
- Install the radiator grille, radiator grille opening panel and the upper radiator support. For additional information, refer to FRONT END BODY PANELS

VEHICLES WITH AIR CONDITIONING
- Install the A/C condenser. For additional information, refer to AIR CONDITIONING

ALL VEHICLES
- Install the radiator. For additional information, refer to ENGINE COOLING .
- Install the parking lamps and the headlamp assemblies. For additional information, refer to EXTERIOR LIGHTING .
- Install the engine cover. For additional information, refer to INTERIOR TRIM AND ORNAMENTATION .
- Reconnect both battery ground cables. For additional information, refer to BATTERY, MOUNTING AND CABLES .
NOTE:
An assistant will be necessary to help position the cylinder head.
CAUTION:
Do not use too much engine oil on the threads of the cylinder head bolts, or damage to the threads and poor sealing can result. Do not use anti-seize compounds, grease or any other lubricants except engine oil on the cylinder head bolt threads because they will affect the true torque value reading of the bolts.
NOTE:
Make sure the bolt holes are free of contaminants prior to bolt installation.
NOTE:
Always use new O-ring seals when installing A/C system components.
