Oil Pan: Removal

Remove the intake manifold. For additional information, refer to INTAKE MANIFOLD .
Remove the fan shroud and the engine cooling fan. For additional information, refer to ENGINE COOLING .
Remove the retainers and the shield.

Remove the nut retaining the transmission filler tube at the rear of the RH cylinder head and position the tube aside.

Detach the wiring harness retainer.

Remove the stud bolts.

Remove the two transmission-to-engine bolts.

Assemble the special tools.

Install the special tools.

Install the special tool and support the engine.

Raise and support the vehicle.
Drain the engine oil and remove the oil filter.

NOTE: The RH is shown, LH is similar.

Remove the nuts retaining the front engine support insulator to the front engine support bracket.
Remove the flywheel inspection plate.

Lower the vehicle.
Using the Heavy Duty Engine Support, raise the engine to the ideal working height as shown.

Raise the vehicle.
Remove the bolts and partially lower the oil pan.

Remove the bolts retaining the oil pump screen cover and pickup tube and allow to drop into the oil pan. Also remove the tube and spacer and allow to drop into the oil pan.

Remove the oil pan and oil pan gasket from the rear of the engine.
Clean the mating surfaces and thoroughly clean the oil pan.
