Valve Cover RH - 5.4L: Installation

  1. If a new gasket is being installed, apply instant adhesive completely around the gasket groove in the valve cover. Install the new valve cover gasket.

  2. NOTE: If not secured within four minutes, the sealant must be removed and the sealing area cleaned. To clean the sealing area, use silicone gasket remover and metal surface prep. Follow the directions on the packaging. Failure to follow this procedure can cause future oil leakage.

  3. Apply a bead of silicone gasket and sealant in two places where the engine front cover meets the cylinder head.
  4. Position the valve cover on the cylinder head and loosely install the bolts.

  5. Tighten the bolts in the sequence shown.

  6. Position the fuel charging wiring on the engine.
  7. Install the RH ignition coils. For additional information, refer to IGNITION SYSTEMS .
  8. Connect the RH fuel injector connectors.

  9. Position the fuel charging wiring on the valve cover studs.

  10. Connect the A/C compressor and the crankshaft position sensor electrical connectors.

  11. Install the bracket and ground strap.

  12. Install the engine wiring harness connectors on the bracket.

  13. Connect the engine wiring harness connectors.

  14. Connect the radio ignition interference capacitors.

  15. Install the crankcase ventilation tube.

  16. Connect the oil fill tube.

  17. Install the interior engine cover. For additional information, refer to INTERIOR TRIM AND ORNAMENTATION .
  18. Install the air cleaner outlet pipe and the engine air cleaner.
  19. Connect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to BATTERY, MOUNTING AND CABLES .
