Disassembly and Assembly

CAUTION: If components are to be installed, they must be installed in the same positions. Mark components removed for location.
  1. Remove the spark plugs (12405), if necessary. For additional information, refer to SPARK PLUGS .
  2. Use the Valve Spring Compressor to compress the valve springs (6513).

  3. Remove the following:
    1. Remove the valve spring retainer key (6518).
    2. Remove the valve spring retainer (6514).
    3. Remove the valve spring.
    4. Remove and discard the valve stem seal (6571).
    • Remove the valve spring seat.
    • Remove the valve.

    4. CAUTION: Lubricate parts with engine oil before installing.
  4. To assemble, reverse the disassembly procedure.
