Removal and Installation

INNER AND OUTER ENDS 

  1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position on a hoist.

    OUTER END 

  2. Loosen the nuts.

  3. Position the adjusting sleeve clamp locator away from the sleeve.

  4. Remove and discard the cotter pin and nut.

  5. Using the special tool, detach the tie rod end from the wheel knuckle.

  6. NOTE: Count the number of turns that are necessary to remove the tie-rod for reference during installation.

  7. Remove the outer drag link end.

    INNER END 

  8. Loosen the nut.

  9. Remove and discard the cotter pin and nut.

  10. Using the special tool, separate the drag link from the sector shaft arm.

  11. NOTE: Count the number of turns that are necessary to remove the tie-rod for reference during installation.

  12. Remove the inner drag link end.

    INNER AND OUTER ENDS 

  13. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
  14. Check and, if necessary, adjust the front toe to specification. For additional information, refer to SUSPENSION SYSTEM - GENERAL INFORMATION article. Ensure steering wheel is centered.
