Removal and Installation

    VEHICLES WITH 7.3L ENGINE 

  1. Remove the cooling fan. For additional information refer to ENGINE COOLING .
  2. ALL VEHICLES 

  3. Rotate the belt tensioner and remove the belt from the power steering pump pulley.

    VEHICLES WITH 4.6L, 5.4L AND 6.8L ENGINES 

  4. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position on a hoist.
  5. If equipped, remove the deflector shield.

  6. ALL VEHICLES 

  7. Using the special tool, remove the pulley.
    • Inspect the pulley for paint marks in the web area near the hub. If there are two paint marks, install a new pulley. If there is no paint marks, use a paint pencil to mark the web area of the pulley near the hub.

  8. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
  9. CAUTION: Install a new power steering pump pulley after being removed and installed.

  10. Using the special tool, install the pulley.
