Removal and Installation

- Remove the cooling fan. For additional information refer to ENGINE COOLING .
- Rotate the belt tensioner and remove the belt from the power steering pump pulley.
VEHICLES WITH 4.6L, 5.4L AND 6.8L ENGINES
- With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position on a hoist.
- If equipped, remove the deflector shield.
- Using the special tool, remove the pulley.
- Inspect the pulley for paint marks in the web area near the hub. If there are two paint marks, install a new pulley. If there is no paint marks, use a paint pencil to mark the web area of the pulley near the hub.
- To install, reverse the removal procedure.
- Using the special tool, install the pulley.
