Differential Case and Ring Gear - Conventional: Assembly

- Position the differential side gear thrust washers on the differential side gears.
- Use SAE 75W-140 High Performance Rear Axle Lubricant F1TZ-19580-B or equivalent meeting Ford specification WSL-M2C192-A to lubricate the differential side gear thrust washers and the differential side gear journals.
- Position the differential side gears.
- Assemble the differential pinion thrust washers (4230) and the differential pinion gears (4215).
- Lubricate with SAE 75W-140 High Performance Rear Axle Lubricant F1TZ-19580-B or equivalent meeting Ford specification WSL-M2C192-A.
- Engage the differential pinion gears opposite the differential side gears.
- Install the differential bearings, using the special tool.
- Rotate the differential pinion gears to align the differential pinion shaft bore.
- Insert the differential pinion shaft, and install a new differential pinion shaft lock bolt finger-tight.
- Press the new anti-lock speed sensor ring and the differential ring gear on the differential case.
- Install the differential ring gear bolts and tighten.
- Apply Stud and Bearing Mount EOAZ-19554-BA or equivalent meeting Ford specification WSK-M2G349-A1 to the differential ring gear bolts.
- Install new differential bearings, if removed.
- Install the differential case. Refer to DIFFERENTIAL CASE .
CAUTION:
If equipped, make sure that the notches on the case flange and the anti-lock speed sensor ring are aligned.
