Transaxle Draining and Filling

All vehicles 

  1. Raise and support the vehicle.
  2. Remove the drain plug and drain the fluid.

  3. NOTE: Use a new gasket on the drain plug. Install the drain plug.

  4. Remove the LH splash shield.

    4X4 vehicles 

  5. Remove the plug.

    4X2 vehicles 

  6. Remove the plug.

  8. Fill the transmission with gear oil until level with the fill hole.
  9. NOTE: 4X2 shown, 4X4 similar.

  10. Install the fill plug.
  11. Install the LH splash shield.
    CAUTION: If any of the following conditions exist, install a new bearing.
