Normal Operation

The EPB actuator contains a Hall-effect sensor, which the EPB module uses to determine how long the EPB motor is required to run during an application or release of the parking brake. The Hall-effect sensor receives power (approximately 2 volts below battery voltage) from the EPB module through circuit 7-CG20(YE/VT). Circuit 8-CG20 (WH/VT) provides a signal to the EPB module and this signal will vary between 0 and 4.4 volts when the EPB motor is rotating. The voltage varies due to the presence of a magnetic field, which is being detected by the Hall-effect sensor. Ground to the Hall-effect sensor is supplied by circuit 9-CG20 (BN/VT).
