Selector Lever Cable and Bracket - Column Shifter: Removal

- Raise and support the vehicle. For additional information, refer to JACKING & HOISTING .
- Disconnect the shift cable from the transmission.
- Remove the nut, and disconnect the shift cable from the manual control lever (7A256).
- Disconnect the shift cable from the shift cable bracket.
- Remove and discard the shift cable retainer.
- Unclip the shift cable from the clips that route the cable upward toward the top of the engine compartment.
- Remove the bolts and the shift cable bracket from the transmission.
- Lower the vehicle.
- From the engine compartment, unclip the shift cable from the clip that routes the cable toward the bulkhead.
- Disconnect the shift cable from the steering column.
- Disconnect the shift cable from the transmission selector lever arm and support (7302).
- Disconnect the shift cable from the steering column bracket.
- Remove and discard the shift cable retainer.
- From the engine compartment, use a suitable tool to push the rubber grommet through the bulkhead.
- From the passenger compartment, remove the shift cable from the vehicle.
WARNING:
Turn off the electrical power to the air suspension prior to hoisting, jacking, or towing an air suspension equipped vehicle. Failure to do so can result in unexpected inflation or deflation of the air springs, which can result in shifting of the vehicle during these operations. Failure to follow these instructions can result in personal injury.
