Manual Control Lever Shaft and Seal: Removal

  1. Position the vehicle on a hoist. Place in NEUTRAL. For additional information, refer to JACKING & HOISTING .
  2. Disconnect the digital TR sensor electrical connector.

  3. Disconnect the transmission shift linkage.

  4. Remove the digital TR sensor bolts and the digital TR sensor.

  5. Drain the transmission fluid.
    • Loosen the transmission fluid pan bolts and allow fluid to drain. After the fluid has drained remove the bolts.

  6. Remove the transmission fluid pan and transmission fluid pan gasket.

  7. Pull down evenly and remove the transmission fluid filter and seal.

  8. Clean and inspect the transmission fluid pan, transmission fluid pan gasket, and the magnet.

  9. Remove the manual control valve detent lever spring.
    1. Remove the bolt.
    2. Remove the manual control valve detent lever spring.

  10. NOTE: Use a shop cloth to protect the transmission case surface.

  11. Remove the manual lever shaft retaining pin.
  12. Remove the manual control lever nut and slide the manual control lever shaft out of the case.

  13. CAUTION: Use care not to damage the manual control lever shaft bore or the new seal may leak due to damage to the bore.

  14. Remove the manual control lever shaft seal.
