Power Brake Booster: Removal

  1. Disconnect negative battery cable. Disconnect brake fluid level indicator connector. On Contour and Mystique 2.0L, remove mass airflow sensor and air cleaner cover. On all models, disconnect hydraulic brakelines from master cylinder. Remove master cylinder nuts and master cylinder. Disconnect manifold vacuum hose from brake booster.
  2. On Escort and Tracer, remove brake pedal clevis pin from under dash. On all models, remove brake pedal push rod from brake pedal. Remove booster-to-dash panel nuts. Remove brake booster and gasket.
