Disassembly (Contour & Mystique)

  1. Remove caliper. See REAR BRAKE CALIPER & PADS  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Using Rear Caliper Piston Adjuster (T87P-2588-A), turn piston counterclockwise to remove from adjusting spindle. See Figure. Remove dust cover and piston seal. Discard seal. Remove caliper guide pin and seals. Remove brake bleeder screw.
  2. Inspect guide pin bushings. If damaged, replace as necessary. Remove plastic cover, strap and dust boot from parking brake lever and caliper. Mount caliper in soft jaw vise, press cupped washer to remove parking brake lever and cam. Remove cupped washer and adjuster springs from adjusting spindle. Note position of springs for reassembly. Remove spindle and seal from caliper.
