Differential Case and Ring Gear - Conventional: Disassembly

- Remove the differential assembly from the differential housing (4141). For additional information, refer to DIFFERENTIAL CASE .
- Remove the bolts.
- Insert a punch in the bolt holes, and drive off the differential ring gear and, if necessary, the anti-lock speed sensor ring.
- Using the special tools, remove the differential bearings (4221), if necessary.
- Remove the bolt.
- Remove the differential pinion shaft (4211).
- Rotate and remove the differential pinion gears (4215) and differential pinion thrust washers (4230).
- Remove the differential side gears (4236) and differential side gear thrust washers (4228).
CAUTION:
Do not damage the differential ring gear bolt hole threads.
CAUTION:
If removing the anti-lock speed sensor ring (4B409), discard it, and install a new anti-lock speed sensor ring during assembly.
