Restraints Control Module (RCM): Removal

- Before proceeding, see AIR BAG SAFETY PRECAUTIONS . Disable air bag system. See DISABLING SYSTEM under DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM. RCM is located on tunnel, under floor console.
- Place gearshift lever in "D5" position. Remove floor console. See FLOOR CONSOLE . Remove shift interlock cable from mounting bracket. See Figure . Disconnect shift interlock cable from gearshift lever. Disconnect transmission gearshift selector cable. Remove gearshift lever retaining screws and position gearshift lever back, out of way. Remove lower A/C connector duct.
- Remove RCM mounting bolts. Pinch thumb tab and pivot connector position assurance lever away from RCM, disengaging the lever. See Figure . Push down on retaining tab and disconnect small RCM harness connector. Remove RCM.
