Test V: Seat Position Sensor Circuit Fault (DTC C1981): Notes

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2004 Lincoln LS. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE: Before proceeding, see AIR BAG SAFETY PRECAUTIONS  .
Diagnostic tests or repairs are not to be performed on seat components with front seats installed in vehicle. Prior to diagnosis or repair of any seat component, remove front seats and ensure appropriate air bag simulators are installed at side air bag connectors.
Due to seat position sensor being a hall-effect type sensor, the following test will diagnose a current out of range fault instead of the current definition for a resistance out of range fault.
